The statutes of the Louisiana Uniform Construction Code Commission (LUCCC) provide for three basic license types.
Public Inspector
A Public Inspector (formerly: Building Code Enforcement Officer) license is required for:
- A person employed by a public entity who is primarily responsible for the overall inspection or enforcement of applicable building code requirements within the jurisdiction of the employer
Private Inspector
A Private Inspector (formerly: Third-Party Provider) license is required for:
- a person, entity, or an individual employed by an entity contracted to act in the capacity of a inspector, but is not directly employed by a public entity, must be licensed as a private inspector with LUCCC.
Private Inspector Company
A Private Inspector Company license is required for:
- a business entity providing services as a private inspector company. Pursuant to Act 881 effective on August 1, 2026, the Private Inspector Company is now also required to be licensed with LUCCC.
