Public Inspector (formerly: Building Code Enforcement Officer) – a person, who is employed by a public entity acting as a public inspector, must be licensed with LUCCC. Public entities are parish, city, town, village government agencies and political subdivisions such as boards, commissions, departments, etc.
Private Inspector (formerly: Third-Party Provider) – a person, entity, or an individual employed by an entity contracted to act in the capacity of a inspector, but is not directly employed by a public entity, must be licensed as a private inspector with LUCCC.
Private Inspector Company (formerly: Third-Party Company) – a business entity providing services as a private inspector company. Pursuant to Act 881 effective on August 1, 2026, the Private Inspector Company is now also required to be license with LUCCC.
